Client:

The new development within Royal Borough Kensington & Chelsea involves the construction of seven new buildings, up to a maximum of 29 storeys in height, comprising 462 residential apartments and penthouses, c1,600sqm of commercial floorspace, retail, community uses, and associated landscaping. The centralised air source heat pump-led energy centre will be located at basement car park level, distributing services horizontally to local plant rooms before rising vertically through the car park to serve each residential building and commercial use above.

 

Working with John McAslan & Partners and AKTII, the fundamental challenge for the design team was to locate five of the buildings above an operational multi-storey car park connected to an existing Tesco Superstore. This required careful consideration when developing our site-wide MEP plant and distribution strategy as it will be critical to ensure no disruption to the 24/7 continuous operation of the Tesco store during construction of the multi-phased site.
