The local Planning Authority set stringent design parameters and we developed our building services solutions to satisfy these demanding requirements.
These include a low energy approach to the design of the M&E systems. With limited roof space, the plant enclosure needed to be set back and well screened so as not to conflict with the development sight lines and to meet the rigorous acoustic requirements. The complex internal layout maximises the commercial value of the development but posed a significant challenge to building services distribution. This required an optimised vertical services transportation and plant strategy to balance the need for efficient, high quality systems with planning and physical constraints.
Given the challenges of this project we have worked closely with our design partners to achieve BREEAM Domestic Refurbishment and BREEAM Retail 2008 ‘Very Good’ ratings.
