Scotch Partners provide advice to enable clients to achieve WiredScore Platinum

Internet connectivity is among the top three most important factors for tenants searching for office space, along with cost and location. In an increasingly data heavy environment, there is nothing more frustrating than a slow or non-existent internet connection in a work environment. WiredScore is a certification scheme that enables landlords to understand, improve, and promote their buildings’ digital infrastructure so they are ready for the next generation of business tenants.

Plus X is a new Innovation Hub in Brighton, offering work space that unlocks potential, driving business growth and innovation, community collaboration and positive social impact.

The Plus X formula blends flexible work spaces with a wealth of facilities and support. These include media studios, prototype workshops and product labs, integrating innovation programmes, start-up accelerators and access to Plus X business growth services from marketing to team talent experts.

Over 7 floors and 53,000 sq. ft offering inspiring event space and a landscaped roof terrace,  Plus X Brighton will accommodate more than 550 people, attracting a wide community of members including freelancers, start-ups, scaleups, corporates and education partners.

From the outset, achieving a Platinum WiredScore rating was an objective that the Plus X were determined to achieve.

“Ultra fast and reliable connectivity is key to business success,” said Olga Hopton, Managing Director, Plus X Brighton, “WiredScore is not only best in class but one of a range of world class services we are bringing to our Innovation Hub.”

Working alongside U+I and the architect, Studio Egret West, Scotch Partners were able to offer advice and design to accommodate the requirements of a Platinum WiredScore certificate. Our building services design incorporated the additional plant and risers needed to assist the project. As the main point of contact between the client, architect and certification body it was our role to ensure that all design team members were aware of the most effective route to meet requirements of the certification scheme.

Wired Score has 4 certification levels; certified, silver, gold and platinum.

“To achieve WiredScore Platinum is a big achievement,” said Peter Cotterell, Technical Director at Scotch Partners, “only a handful of developers outside of London have managed to reach this level of certification from WiredScore and we are delighted that Plus X is one of them.”
